For example, applying 25 to 35 kg of superphosphate and 10 to 15 kg of potassium chloride per acre during the seedling stage can support early growth. Nitrogen top-dressing is often done in three stages: 30% of the total nitrogen is applied at the seedling stage to promote strong stalks, 50% is applied during the tasseling stage to support ear development, and 20% is added later to ensure adequate nutrition during grain filling. This method helps maximize yield by ensuring nutrients are available when the plant needs them most.
