Obesity is actually not good for bone health

Release date: 2007-08-17

Recent research led by Professor Deng Hongwen from the School of Life Sciences at Xi'an Jiaotong University, in collaboration with researchers from the University of Missouri and the University of Kansas, has challenged a long-held belief about obesity and bone health. For years, it was thought that being overweight could actually be beneficial for bone density, as increased body weight was believed to stimulate stronger bones through mechanical loading. However, this new study reveals that the relationship between obesity and osteoporosis is far more complex than previously understood.

Professor Deng's team found that the type of weight gain—whether it's from fat or muscle—plays a critical role in determining bone health. Traditional studies often failed to differentiate between fat mass and lean mass, leading to misleading conclusions. By analyzing large datasets from 1988 Chinese participants and 4,489 white Americans, the researchers were able to clearly separate the effects of fat and muscle on bone density. They also accounted for the mechanical load that different types of weight exert on the body.

The results showed that individuals with higher levels of body fat, even when their total weight was the same, had lower bone density. This suggests that fat accumulation does not support bone strength and may even increase the risk of osteoporosis. The study highlights the importance of distinguishing between different types of body composition when assessing bone health.

This groundbreaking approach offers a new framework for understanding the link between obesity and skeletal health. It opens up new possibilities for future research and could influence how medical professionals approach the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in obese individuals. As our understanding of body composition evolves, so too must our strategies for maintaining strong, healthy bones.

Agricultural Chemical

In the era of relatively backward agricultural civilization, any spread of locusts, armyworms, borers and other pests will take big risk even low-yield crops, while the development of pesticides makes these pests under control, played an important role in the people's production and life and people health . The Birth of pesticide industry, greatly changed human history of completely dependent on the rice. Argo chemical have widespread in Pesticides, as well as insecticides fungicides, acaricides, herbicides, plant growth regulating agents. The use of pesticides greatly increased agricultural production to ensure that the population growth has brought a lot of material needs, but also take the problem of residues of pesticides. We are committed to the development of efficient, low toxicity and residue pesticide products, the annual export volume exceeds hundreds of tons.
