The explanation given by Mengniu at that time was that a batch of feed in some local pastures had mildew due to wet weather, which led the dairy cows to exceed the aflatoxin level in the raw milk after eating these feeds.

Mengniu's interpretation of the appearance of aflatoxin in dairy products has become a "model" for latecomers. The results of the Changsha City Food Safety Office's investigation on the “Nanshan milk powder incident” showed that dairy cows were fed with feed contaminated with aflatoxin B1 and aflatoxin B1 was hydroxylated in the body to produce aflatoxins. M1 is mainly found in milk and urine.

The problem with dairy products is not just aflatoxin.

The consumer claimed that Bright Dairy's customer service confirmed to them that the brighter milk with batch number I17:15(E) produced on June 25 and listed on the 26th was mixed with caustic soda components.

Bright will not slow down and examine the problem, or it may be due to the temptation of profit brought by rapid development.

On October 25th, Bright Dairy announced the third quarterly report of 2012. In the third quarter of this year, Bright Dairy's net profit was 222 million yuan, an increase of 38.53% over the same period of last year, and operating income was 9.897 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.25%, which was attributable to the shareholders of the listed company. The net profit was 125 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 44.1%, higher than the 31.9% in the first half of the year and 22.2% in the same period of last year.

Another giant of dairy products, Yili, has also fallen into the problem of milk quality.

Recently, a number of parents said that their children suffered from abnormalities after eating the “new Illijin infant formula milk powder” and that the skin surface had red spots and high fever. At the end of last year, when the AQSIQ conducted spot checks on the quality of 200 liquid milk products, it found that the two products exceeded the standard for aflatoxin M1. As Aflatoxin M1 is highly toxic and strongly carcinogenic, AQSIQ requested liquid milk. Manufacturers from the source to strengthen the prevention and control of aflatoxin M1.

However, the problem of aflatoxin is not only not controlled at the source, but dairy products are often plunged into other problems.
