I find myself constantly searching for pieces of myself in my daughter now that she's here. It’s funny how people immediately say, "She looks just like her dad," the moment she was born. But every time she makes that certain pouty face or gives me one of those wide-eyed gazes, I can’t help but feel like I’m seeing myself reflected back.

Yesterday, she was telling me this elaborate tale while playing with her Veterinarian Barbie. She told me they were on some sort of magical journey, crossing a sea made of green grass on a boat shaped like her silver sparkly sandals. To top it off, she added that they were heading toward a grocery store located on the shore of our yellow beach towel. The story got even better when she started flailing her arms in the air to mimic a storm. "A big SPLASH of water came out of nowhere and drenched the whole boat!" she exclaimed, laughing as she pretended to get soaked.

Her flair for drama is definitely something she inherited from both of us—it's a family trait, for sure. But the part where she comes up with completely new words? That’s all me. I used to do the same thing when I was her age. Remembering that brings back so many memories.

Sometimes, I wonder if I’ll ever feel like I’ve fully understood what kind of person she'll grow up to be. Watching her imagination run wild makes me smile, though. She's already showing signs of being someone special—someone who isn't afraid to dream big and create her own worlds. And honestly, there’s nothing more rewarding than knowing I had a hand in shaping that.

Parenting is such a wild ride. One minute you're trying to explain why the sky is blue, and the next you're caught up in the middle of a pirate adventure on the living room floor. I wouldn't trade it for anything, though. There’s something magical about watching your child grow and realizing they’re not just a reflection of you—they’re their own unique person.

I guess that’s what makes this whole experience so beautiful. Every day is a chance to learn something new—not just about her, but also about myself. And honestly, I think that’s the best part of it all.

What about you? Do you see yourself in your kids? Or are they entirely their own little beings? Let me know in the comments below!
