How to cultivate high quality shrimp

The shrimp farming density is approximately 100 kilograms per acre per year. Typically, two growing seasons are maintained annually. In the spring, the stocking rate ranges from 30,000 to 40,000 shrimp per acre, with a size of about 1,200 per kilogram. During the summer season, the stocking density is slightly lower, ranging between 30,000 and 35,000 shrimp per acre, with an average size of 10,000 per kilogram. Water quality management is crucial for successful shrimp cultivation. Overstocking should be avoided to prevent stress and disease outbreaks. The water transparency should be kept between 25 to 30 centimeters, and the pH level of the pond should remain around 7.5 for optimal growth conditions. Feeding practices require careful attention. For every 500 grams of shrimp, approximately 125 kilograms of mid-range feed is needed. The protein content in the feed should be maintained between 25% and 28%. In ponds rich in natural food sources, feeding once daily in the evening is sufficient. However, during peak growth periods—specifically during the second half of the first season and the second half of the production cycle (August to September)—feeding should be increased to support higher growth rates. It's also recommended that 20% of the pond area be dedicated to aquatic plants, which help improve water quality and provide additional habitat for the shrimp. Among various plant species, *Hydrilla verticillata* has shown the best results due to its fast growth and ability to enhance the overall ecosystem of the pond.
