On May 19, 2008, the "2008 Seminar on Nutrition and Feed Technology of Heinte Fish & Shrimp" was successfully held in Xi'an at the Qujiang International Convention and Exhibition Center. Organized by Guangzhou Heinte Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and the Guangdong Haida Group Animal Husbandry and Aquaculture Research Center, the event was supported by the China Feed Industry Association. The seminar took place concurrently with the "2008 China Animal Husbandry and Feed Industry Exhibition," offering attendees a unique opportunity to gain insights into the latest developments in aquaculture feed technology.
During the one-day conference, Dr. Qian Xueqiao from the Guangdong Haida Group's Animal Husbandry and Aquaculture Research Center delivered a presentation on the application of various animal and plant protein sources in commercial shrimp feed formulations. He highlighted how the rationalization of fishmeal prices in 2007 helped alleviate the significant cost pressures caused by rising prices of other feed ingredients. However, from 2008 onward, the prices of traditional protein sources remained high, and the outlook for fishmeal became uncertain once again. This uncertainty made the development of new commercial shrimp feed formulas a major challenge.
Despite these challenges, the Haida Group has continued its research into alternative protein sources for shrimp feed. Over the years, they have gathered extensive experimental data and gained valuable practical experience in optimizing feed formulations. Their ongoing efforts reflect a commitment to innovation and sustainability in the aquaculture industry, ensuring that shrimp farmers can access high-quality, cost-effective feed solutions even in a volatile market.
