Rosen Eiskrem is Europe's largest private ice cream producer with its plants in Waldfeucht-Haaren, Nuremberg and Prenzlau, Germany.
Since the acquisition of Nestlé Schöller's production line at the end of 2006, Rosen Eiskrem's annual production capacity of ice cream has reached 230 million liters. More than 90% of their sales come from private label products, which are sold to retail stores and large budget supermarkets, with the rest coming from the Cassie brand and restaurant retail.
Recognize trends early and act quickly

Since 2000, the company has invested tens of millions of euros in annual equipment modernization, thereby expanding the production and storage capacity of the factory, which laid the foundation for the company to carry out more bold innovation activities. At the Haaren plant, they are always proud of product innovations based on the latest market trends, so the company is continually categorizing equipment and adding the necessary processes to adapt and improve the entire ice cream production process.
Technology for ice cream innovation
In order to produce a new vanilla ice cream BIG CARAMEL, the company needed to expand its existing production facilities. A manually operated metrology tool developed by Rosen and its partners needs to be operated synchronously with the production line, but since this traditional drive technology is no longer used, it takes a very high amount of time to acquire the technology for a limited time. The cost, so the company took the opportunity to replace a new supplier. When evaluating various potential supplier quotations, Rosen's selection criteria are based on company services, product cost performance, and especially the long-term availability of the solution. In the end, they decided to work with B&R to select the ACOPOS range for the project. These user-friendly, intelligent servo drives feature extremely high positioning accuracy, ensuring accurate metering of caramel in ice cream to meet Rosen's high-quality product standards.
Rosen also handed over the control and display platform to B&R: the operator station's HMI uses a 5.7-inch Power Panel touch screen that controls the metrology tools. Further optimization of the metrology tool involves the use of direct drive technology to replace the pneumatic cylinders to further improve performance. Of course, some other cooperation projects between the company and B&R are currently underway or planned.
