There are 5 national laser technology research centers in China, and more than 10 product research and development institutions. At least 150-160 companies are producing and selling laser and laser accessory products. These companies are mainly distributed in Wuhan, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Beijing, Xi'an and other provinces and cities. In 2005, the national laser market sales exceeded 30 billion yuan, of which medical laser sales were about 700 million to 800 million yuan. The industry believes that at the research level, China's laser technology is not far behind in foreign countries, and in some respects even exceeds the existing level abroad. However, the current problem is that the conversion rate of new laser technology products is not as high as in the West. Secondly, in the development of some high-end laser products (such as semiconductor lasers, semiconductor pumped solid-state lasers, etc.), it is still in the exploratory stage, and mature products have already been listed abroad.
Since the early 1990s, the development of laser medical devices in China has been extremely rapid. According to relevant reports, domestic laser medical equipment has risen to the third place in the sales of domestic lasers, with an annual growth rate of 20~30%. At present, laser medical centers have been established in major hospitals across the country, and 80% of small and medium-sized hospitals have set up laser medical departments. The demand for laser medical equipment in the domestic medical community has greatly increased. It is expected that sales of domestic medical lasers are expected to increase significantly in the next few years. Foreign experts believe that the world's three major medical laser markets are: the United States, Japan and China. The reason is that China's laser technology is not low compared to the West, and China has a population of 1.3 billion, so the potential demand for laser medical devices is huge.
In the past few decades, medical lasers developed by various countries have been large-scale equipment, which is expensive. With the advent of semiconductor lasers, medical lasers have become smaller, more economical and household. According to reports, some laser manufacturers in the West have introduced small-scale home laser medical equipment such as laser weight loss devices and laser decompression devices that are affordable and suitable for home use. In summary, as China has a complete industrial chain from laser technology research to product development and laser parts production, and the application of laser in the medical field is gradually expanding, China's laser medical device market will usher in the next 10 years. A new boom period.
