Early Prediction and Control of Wheat Lodging

There are two methods to predict whether wheat will fall down at an early stage: First, from the perspective of seeding density, the seeding rate is too large, the number of basic seedlings per acre exceeds 300,000, and the wintering period exceeds 800,000 heads per acre, posing a risk of lodging; Second, from the standpoint of growing wheat seedlings, when the first and second leaves of the base are more than a third of the total length of the leaves, there is a risk of lodging. There are two types of wheat lodging: one is root lodging. That is, seedlings are sown when the soil is not practicable, and the roots are not firmly in the loose soil. Once the wind and rain hit the land, the soil will sink and fall down. The other is the lodging of stems. If too much nitrogen is applied, the leaves will flourish, and if the upper part of the basal parts cannot bear the upper weight, they will bend and fall down. Wheat lodging may occur after jointing, but production often occurs after heading. Ways to prevent the lodging of wheat: Control of fertilizer and water. For crops that are predicted to be in danger of lodging, no further topdressing of nitrogen may be applied. Phosphorus and potash fertilizers may be topdressed to promote the growth of stalks and prevent leggy. For unbalanced fields, spraying 0.3%-0.4% potassium dihydrogen phosphate 2 to 3 times from the jointing to the flowering stage. Density goes weak. For wheat fields with high density, strong growth potential, and risk of lodging, early sparse seedlings should be used, or 1 to 2 spaxes should be used to remove a part of wheat seedlings. Rational control. Foliage sprayed with paclobutrazol can play a strong role in preventing and stunting plants and controlling the growth of plants. The effective period of spraying paclobutrazol is the period from turning green to jointing stage. In this stage, the earlier the spraying, the better the inhibitory effect between the first and second basal sections, and also has good effect on the characteristics of the panicle. Generally, it is the best application time for returning green. Moderate suppression. The moderate suppression before jointing not only can strengthen the festival and reduce the plant height, but also can make the loose soil sink and achieve the purpose of close integration of the roots and soil.
