Advances in research on drought-tolerant and cold-tolerant genes and transgenic turfgrass cultivation

The research has achieved important results in the breeding of drought-tolerant and cold-tolerant genes and transgenic turfgrass cultivation with independent intellectual property rights, and provides a practical and feasible technical system for the breeding of water-saving and long-green cold-season turfgrass varieties. And a number of valuable turfgrass new germplasm resources. In the same type of research, it has reached the leading domestic and international advanced level. It is suggested that the research on key strains be further strengthened in the future to create conditions and accelerate the industrialization process. The project has cloned 8 new drought-tolerant and cold-tolerant functional genes from the drought-tolerant and cold-tolerant species of China, including the drought-tolerant and cold-tolerant species, Borrelia sinica, and Artemisia halodendron. The 5′-end regulatory regions of some genes were cloned and functioned. the study. Apply for 4 patents. The project team used the above genes to genetically transform several important cold-season turfgrasses (Festuca arundinacea, Ryegrass, Poa pratensis, Festuca arundinacea, etc.) to obtain more than 800 transgenic lines that have been field tested for 3 consecutive years. 20 transgenic turfgrass strains with prolonged green period and enhanced tolerance to drought and cold were screened out, some of which had significant effects and were very promising for development and application. Large-scale, multi-field trials were conducted in Beijing and Shanxi. Six trials of transgenic turfgrass and four environmental releases have been approved. In addition, the project team also used radiation mutagenesis techniques to carry out genetic improvement of grasses. The strains with good stress resistance have been obtained.
