Under the support of the National "973" project and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the research group headed by Prof. Li Xuebao of the Institute of Molecular Genetics, School of Life Sciences, Huazhong Normal University, recently conducted research in the field of functional genomics such as cotton fiber development. Has made important research progress, and the latest research result “The Cotton ACTIN1 Gene Is Functionally Expressed in Fibers and Participates in Fiber Elongation†was published in the internationally renowned biological journal “The Plant Cellâ€. The first study revealed that the GhACT1 gene is in cotton. The key role of fiber elongation. The Plant Cell is the number one periodical magazine in plant science. Its annual SCI impact factor (IF) was around 11 and 2003 was 10.679. So far, this paper is the research paper with the highest impact factor in the SCI paper signed by our school (Central China Normal University) as the first author, which indicates that the Molecular Genetics Laboratory has reached the domestic key institute in the life science research.
