Essential efficient labeling system

What is France's most successful wine brand in the world? This problem that has plagued people for many years now has the answer - JP Chenet. Around the world, Chanel sells more than 2 bottles per second. Alsace is currently the headquarters of Chanel wines, the headquarters of France's Gissofort (LGCdF) and France's largest wine exporter. But in addition to its wine business, the sales of hard liquors have been very successful. Their most famous brand is Boris Yeltsin vodka (distilled in France), which has become the best-selling brand even in the authoritative countries of vodka, such as Russia or the Czech Republic.

Since last year, like the company's other spirits, the Yeltsin vodka series has been labelled on the Krones Topmodule labeling device with a dynamic Accutable buffer system in the Petersbach area. Why did LGCdF choose this ultra-flexible system? This is a good answer: First, most of the company's wine bottles have been labeled by Krones' labeling machines ; second, LGCdF has adopted a trademark-diversified and distinctive bottle type for its spirits. strategy. Therefore, what the company needs is a Krones research and development engineer to come up with the exact solution: the Accutable buffer system.

The dynamic Accutable buffer system is the key that the LGCdF Group has been looking for.
Providing them with an ideal line design

Using a pressure-free cushioning system, the bottle is not easy to go backwards

In the wine market, Helfrich handles its top-quality products very well by using super-advanced packaging and distinctive bottles, and naturally it does not disappoint the treatment of spirits. However, the tasks involved are now more difficult than wine. Pascal Martin, head of production operations at LGCdF Group, said: “In our 0.5 liter, 0.7 liter and 1 liter Boris-Yeltsin bottles, you can't find a simple straight line. These bottles are elliptical with a protruding bottom that makes the bottle less prone to reversing."

The LGCdF Group intends to increase the speed range to 18,000 bottles per hour while achieving higher labeling accuracy and greater flexibility. When these are implemented, this new labeler can be incorporated into existing production lines. In short: these bottles must also be buffered in extremely limited space without pressure. Therefore, the LGCdF Group chose a combination of a Topmodule labeler and an Accutable buffer system. The Accutable buffer system was commissioned in September 2006 after a total of three weeks of retrofitting. “As a result, all of our specially shaped bottles run smoothly on the Accutable cushioning system in a pressure-free manner at high speeds. This shows that this challenge is now easily and efficiently controlled,” says Martin.

Even special shapes of special bottles are available in an Accutable
Buffered on the buffer system in a non-reverse form

This Accutable buffer system consists mainly of two conveyor chains running in opposite directions on a horizontal plane. The speed at which the conveyor chain is fed and discharged is measured and converted to differential by means of a computer. This differential, in turn, drives the movable rerouting bracket, which uses a wheel to sensitively transport the bottle from one bottle rail to the other. Depending on the time required for buffering, this buffer system design utilizes a large or small range of available buffers. In addition, some parameter settings can be saved in the control system to have different chains and conveying speeds so that special bottles of different shapes can be buffered on the Accutable buffer system in a non-reversing manner.

Topmodule labeler plus Taxomatic unit

In addition, all Yeltsin bottles must be precisely aligned for labeling. This is done by a camera inspection device and a separately rotatable servo bottle holder. The bottom shape of the Yeltsin bottle has been cast on the rotating servo bottle pallet, giving the bottle the stability it needs. In addition, the LGCdF Group is equipped with an APS 3 pressure sensitive labeling machine with an automatic web bonding device.

For decorative Yeltsin vodka bottles, a cold gluing unit, 2 APS 3 pressure sensitive labeling machines and Taxomatic posted tax strips are always in sync with the basic equipment.

Each Yeltsin bottle has a cold-coated neck and a pressure-sensitive shoulder. In particular, the ultra-long trademarks for 1 liter bottles must be positioned with extreme precision, and sizing without blisters remains a highly demanding task.

Decorated with a cold rubber neck

According to Martin, the Taxomatic Taxior device is another important reason for choosing Krones: “Because our business is export oriented, we have to apply a variety of tax bands. This operation is currently 99% of the time. It’s done very well. If we use old equipment, we can’t do it in terms of production capacity or precision.”

For the Yeltsin bottle range, the ability to use 50% of Topmodule labelers and Accutable buffer system lines is currently utilized. In addition, the system provides processing services for other spirits such as whiskey, purified fruit gin, tequila or brandy. For example, a special shaped brandy bottle is decorated with a bottle neck band, plus two pressure sensitive trademarks, one in front of the bottle and one behind the bottle. To achieve this goal, a pressure sensitive labeling machine has been added to the basic equipment.

Switching time reduced by 50%

Due to the versatility of this particular form of bottle and decoration, the switching time is also an important factor to consider for the LCGdF Group, which is the combination of the Topmodule labeler and the Accutable buffer system. Martin said: “Now we are 50% faster than the old production line. We are also proud of the high production capacity of this new equipment.”

Pascal Martin concludes: "The result of this system is that there is no longer any reason to limit the bottle design creativity of our marketers. Therefore, the world's wine authorities can expect a new bottle from Petersbach, no Any obstacles hinder their originality. But one thing is inevitable, and they will undoubtedly be different from what you usually see."
