Sunflower is a cross-pollination crop, self-cultivation rate is high, artificial pollination can improve the seed setting rate, significantly increase production.
(1) Pollination time: The first artificially assisted pollination should be carried out 2 to 3 days after the sunflower enters the flowering stage (70% of the plants are planted in the whole field). The pollination is conducted once every 3 days and pollination is performed 2 to 3 times. It is best to proceed after the dew falls in the morning and end at 11 noon. If you cannot finish in the morning, you can do it after 3pm.
(2) There are two specific methods for artificial pollination: First, powder pollination. Hold the sunflower's disk neck with one hand, and the other hand gently touch the disk with a puff (pollination tool made of soft cloth and cotton) so that the pollen grains stick to the powder puff. Do not use too much force when in contact. So as not to damage the pistil stigma. Then gently puff the other disk in the same way and rub it in order. Since the flowering of sunflower oil is from the outside to the inside, the fresh pollen should be given to the flowering florets when pollinating. The more the number of pollinated plants, the more mixed pollen grains the powdered pumice seeds will be and the more opportunities for pollination selection. The better the pollination effect is. The second is contact with the pollination plate, that is, in the adjacent two lines, in the flowering period by hand to each other to play a pollination. Use this method when the action is light, so as not to sprain the broken disk neck.
